L'obsidienne est une roche de couleur noire et son aspect vitreux absorbe le regard ; mais sous la lumière, elle produit de magnifiques reflets arcs-en-ciel. C'est ce degré de magnificence qu'Obsidian Tongue vise dans A Nest of Ravens in the Throat of Time. Si la production est toujours rugueuse, le duo américain met l'accent sur les mélodies, plus profondes et mélancoliques. Progressives, les pistes se rallongent et se condensent. Un bel opus qui frôle, sans l'atteindre encore, la perfection !

A celles et ceux qui espèrent "voir du pays" (très fréquemment fantasmé dans notre imagination) avec le raw black metal folklorique d'Akvan, je vous conseille de mettre vos a priori orientalistes de côté : sa première démo Born Ov Fire ne vous donnera pas ce que vous cherchez. Ou pas "exactement" comme vous le cherchez. S'il y a une couleur locale iranienne dans ce que fait Vizaresa, ce qui prime n'est pas le folklore mais l'Histoire. Son black metal est solennel, il porte le poids des années.

An interesting fusion of black metal and jazz, with inspiration from various other forms of metal. There is a lot to like here, and many pleasant surprises. However, it does not always seem to form a cohesive whole.
